Program gets Up & Running
Starting your own small business just got a little easier, with help now available from a unique training program designed for “real-life” entrepreneurship.
The Up & Running BizLaunch Program trains aspiring entrepreneurs in all key areas of small business. Delivered by experienced entrepreneurs, the program avoids textbook business theory to instead focus on real-life small business practices including how to raise Love Capital, costing and pricing for profit, avoiding legal pitfalls and ‘bootstrap’ marketing.
It’s the right training program at the right time. One of out of every five Canadians will be self-employed by the end of this decade, according to the CIBC, Study Small Business: Today and Tomorrow.
“This is a wonderful time to become an entrepreneur,” comments Carol Ann Walker, Executive Director of the Business Advisory Centre Durham (BACD). “There’s plenty of support within the growing small business community, technology is affordable, niche markets are hot and an increasing number of people simply want to pursue their passion through a small business.”
The program is now available at BACD, located at 50 Richmond St. East in downtown Oshawa. “There’s much to learn when starting or growing a small business,” comments Walker. “Skills training, completing a sound Business Plan and securing ongoing coaching are important steps to ensure small business success.”
The 30-hour program will be delivered over five Saturdays at the BACD starting on November 5. Participants receive comprehensive small business skills training, a 200-page Small Biz Manual, a BizTOOLS CD and unlimited one-to-one coaching. Cost is $295 including taxes.
